AGNUS DEI

Written for the choir of St Mary's Church, Cadogan Street, Chelsea, this mass is suitable for smaller church choirs. A haunting Kyrie is followed by a Gloria based on the plainchant Ave Maria sung by the Tenors with the other parts singing antiphonally around it. The Sanctus is short and vigorous, growing from the plainchant Salve Regina sung by the Basses. The Benedictus with a soprano solo provides a moment of repose. The contemplative Agnus Dei provides a short solo moment for each voice part in turn.

CLOSING VOLUNTARY (for organ alone)

This mass was written specifically for smaller church choirs and needs only a two part choir (women and men) with a substantial organ part. The mass is mainly contemplative, with echoes of the plainchant hymn Veni Sancte Spiritu rarely far away. The mass concludes with a substantial voluntary.

MASS OF THE HOLY GHOST

English version of Missa Veni Sancte Spiritu, arranged for four part mixed choir and organ.
